Social Sciences at Trinity
Trinity students in the social sciences learn to analyze the complexities of human behavior and care deeply about the real-world implications of what they study. From internships and community learning in a capital city to global study and research, our social science majors are thinkers and doers.
Social Science Faculty
Social science faculty include teacher-scholars who are highly regarded in their fields and committed teachers who are lifelong mentors to their students. The largest academic division of the college offers strong preparation in economics, politics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, urban studies, public policy and law or educational studies.
Opportunities for Students
- First-Year students can participate in the Community Action Gateway, integrating community learning into their first-year experience.
- Research is an essential part of social science offerings at Trinity, as featured in annual presentations by students in econometrics and thesis students across the social sciences. A team of dedicated staff support social science, data-informed research by faculty and students.
- Many students take advantage of Community Learning courses, the unique opportunities of the Liberal Arts Action Lab, and the programs of the Center for Urban and Global Studies (CUGS) and the Center for Hartford Engagement and Research (CHER).
- Internships and global study away also feature prominently in the lives of social science majors, including Trinity’s longstanding Legislative Internship Program and our Rome Campus.
- For those with an interest in entrepreneurship, the Formal Organizations program offers a popular minor, while the Financial and Technology Research Center hosts Bloomberg Terminals to explore financial data.
