Trinity College’s graduate certificate in urban planning, offered through our master’s program in public policy, examines the methods and impacts of policymaking from Hartford outward, to Connecticut, the New England region, the United States, and the world.

About the Program
Trinity’s graduate certificate in urban planning is offered through the master’s program in public policy, cross-listed with urban studies. The program looks at city planning at the local, state, regional, national, and global levels, beginning with Trinity’s location in Hartford. This program, the first of its kind in Connecticut, gives students the opportunity to learn through the study of urban areas how to improve the quality of life for residents. Trinity invites students to start in Hartford and explore the world.

Curriculum
Courses taken as part of the certificate count toward a master of arts in public policy if the student chooses to seek a master’s degree while pursuing the certificate or at the completion of the certificate program. The certificate program can be completed in one year if students take two courses per semester for one year or in two years if students take one course per semester for two years.
The certificate requires four courses: two core courses and two elective courses.
