Welcome to the new Trinity College Academy of Lifelong Learning (Trinity-ALL), where we highlight the outstanding work of our faculty as teacher-scholars and share their work with the wider community.
Welcome from the Directors
For years, Trinity-ALL has offered short courses in the Hartford area, taught by exceptional Trinity teachers. Now, we are expanding our reach to our global Trinity community, with a diverse range of online activities including talks, webinars, interviews, and short courses. Trinity classes behind bars: teaching and learning in jails and prisons
For more than a decade, Trinity has offered college classes to incarcerated students. What is the value of teaching liberal arts in jails and prisons? What is it like to teach and learn in those settings? In this lunchtime panel discussion, we will hear from the co-directors of Trinity’s Prison Education Project (TPEP). The panel will be followed by an interactive Q&A.
Co-director Anna Terwiel is Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. Her research and teaching combine political theory with feminist theory, critical carceral studies, and medical humanities
Co-director Joseph Lea began his education career at the York Correctional Institution for women as a teacher. At York CI, he has also coordinated the arts programming at the prison.
About Trinity’s Prison Education Project (TPEP): TPEP offers credit-bearing courses to people incarcerated at York Correctional Institution (the state’s prison and jail for women and people assigned female at birth) and Hartford Correctional Center, the city’s jail. TPEP exists to reduce educational inequities, support incarcerated people, and help them succeed after release. Find more information about TPEP on its website: http://ppaksk.a6128.com/human-rights/trinity-prison-education-project/.

What’s in your water?
An online lunchtime talk with Dr. Arianne Bazilio, Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Chemistry
Tap water quality is often in the news. This lunchtime talk is for anyone who has ever wondered where their tap water comes from. We’ll learn about the way we treat water at the utility level, what happens to waste water, and take a look at some of the challenges we face in a changing climate. The talk will be followed by an interactive Q&A.
Arianne Bazilio (PhD, UMass Amherst) is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Chemistry. Holding degrees in both chemical engineering and environmental engineering, Dr. Bazilio describes herself and her work as the products of an interdisciplinary education. Her research applies physical and chemical principles to provide sustainable solutions for healthy aquatic environments and safe drinking water. Her teaching at Trinity involves students in water collection and analysis.
