Replacement Cycle: Five years. Cycle may change depending on funding. When a replacement computer is provided, the older machines cannot be supported and must be returned to LITS. These computers are more likely to fail, and they increase the total number of computers in use at Trinity, contributing to higher-cost software licenses.

All Trinity faculty and staff will be given access to one primary computer workstation which will be purchased through LITS. LITS maintains a central fund for computer workstations, which covers computers and standard campus software. A department may request an upgrade to the standard workstation, but the differential cost will be charged to the department. Computers purchased or gifted to the college outside of LITS centralized purchasing will not be supported.

LITS will try to meet requests for some customization, but this is not always possible.  Keeping to a standard configuration helps to control costs and enables better support.
