In this course students will analyze landmarks of Spanish/Latin American cinema in terms of social, historical, and cultural questions they raise, as well as in terms of ideological, aesthetic, and cinematographic movements to which they belong. The discussion of films will be conducted in Spanish and will provide an academic forum for the exchange of ideas, interpretations, and critique.

(Heritage speakers, students who have studied in a Spanish speaking country, or students who have taken a course at a higher level –Hispanic Studies 261 or above– are not eligible to enroll.)
